JEWELLERY CARE GUIDE

Margot Jewellery London Ltd.

Your Margot Jewellery is thoughtfully designed and meticulously handcrafted to be treasured for years to come. To help you care for your pieces and keep them looking their best, we’ve put together this simple guide.

GENERAL CARE

  • Polishing: Use the soft gold or silver polishing cloth provided with your jewellery to gently restore its shine.
  • Cleaning: For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with mild washing-up liquid and a very soft toothbrush or bottle brush. Carefully clean the jewellery and avoid scrubbing, especially around engravings.
  • Drying: Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft lint-free cloth or tissue. Avoid kitchen roll or paper towels, which can be abrasive.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners or commercial jewellery dips, as these can damage the finish and engraving.

SHOWERING & WATER EXPOSURE

  • We recommend removing any jewellery with charms or pendants before showering. While water alone won’t damage precious metals, you are naturally rougher with your movements when washing — especially when shampooing or scrubbing — which can cause unintentional wear, loosening of parts, or damage to finer details.
  • Soaps, shampoos, and conditioners may also leave residues that dull the shine or build up in crevices.

As a rule of thumb: treat your jewellery the way you would a silk blouse or fine leather accessory — with care and intention.

GOLD & SILVER CHARMS

  • Your charms are hand-polished to a high shine and will develop a natural patina over time – this is part of their charm and individuality.
  • If worn together, charms may rub and create slight clouding or dullness. This is normal and we do not recommend over-cleaning, which can wear away surface detail or engraving.
  • Dark Smudges: Occasionally, you may notice a dark smudge near the jump ring – especially in warmer months. This is usually a buildup of body lotion, sunscreen or natural oils and can be wiped away with a soft cloth.

GEMSTONES

  • While gemstones are naturally durable, their settings and cuts can make them vulnerable to knocks and wear.
  • Porous stones (like turquoise, opals, and pearls) are sensitive to moisture, oils, and creams. Avoid contact with cosmetics, sunscreens, and cleaning products.
  • Clean porous stones gently with lukewarm water and dry with a soft cloth. Never expose them to heat, salt water, or harsh sunlight (e.g. avoid wearing them on the beach).
  • 18ct gold is a softer, purer gold and may scratch or mark more easily than lower-carat metals – please wear with care.

ETERNITY RINGS

  • These delicate rings feature stones set all the way around, making them more prone to knocks and damage.
  • Avoid wearing your Eternity Ring during exercise, manual work, or any activities where it might be exposed to impact or friction.
  • Regularly inspect the settings and contact us if you notice any loose stones or wear.

STORAGE

  • To preserve the beauty of your jewellery, store each piece separately to avoid tangling or scratching.
  • Use the original Margot Jewellery box or pouch and keep your items in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight, heat, and humidity.
  • Never store jewellery in the bathroom or where it might be exposed to steam or moisture.
